Health & Safety Precautions

We here at the Hotel Normandie have always valued and put above all else, the health and safety of our guests and employees.  In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, we wanted to assure you of the precautions we have put in place to protect everyone as we all navigate this challenging time together.  We wish to express our deepest sympathies for those affected by this disastrous event and offer our sincerest gratitude to those in our government agencies and the health care community who are working to slow the spread of COVID-19.

We want to assure everyone that we are actively monitoring and keeping abreast of the latest developments on COVID-19.  On Wednesday, March 4th, 2020, the State of California declared a State of Emergency regarding the Coronavirus outbreak.  This was followed by similar declarations of the City and County of Los Angeles, where Hotel Normandie is located.  These declarations are made to allow the state and local governments to activate resources to combat the spread of COVID-19 that otherwise would not be available to them.

If we are alerted to a case of COVID-19 arising from our hotel, we will immediately work with local health authorities to obtain assistance and guidance on what steps to take with our guests and employees.  In an effort to prevent this from happening, these are the steps we are taking:

  • We are increasing the number of times we are cleaning the public areas, particularly with regard to disinfecting door handles, front desk counters, credit card readers, the business center computer, elevator buttons, stairway handles and reusable guest keys.
  • For guest convenience, we have placed hand sanitizer stations near the elevator in the lobby and at the entrance to our restaurant, Cassell’s.
  • For the safety of our guests and employees, and in an effort to minimize the spread of Covid-19, guest staying longer than one night will only have their room cleaned upon request. Cleaning and disinfecting guest rooms is done during routine daily housekeeping, with particular focus on high touch areas (door handles, light switches, in rooms phone, in-room glassware, faucets, etc.) upon a guest’s departure and before the next guest checks in.
  • We are also stepping up additional cleaning and disinfecting of non-public areas of the hotel like employee break area, laundry room, maintenance areas, and staff offices.
  • We are providing ongoing training with all staff concerning standards of hand hygiene and the importance of more frequent handwashing to combat the spread of viruses like COVID-19.
  • Guests and employees, when on property, are required to wear masks or face coverings that cover both the nose and the mouth.

Given the impact to travel by the COVID-19 virus, we have made our cancellation policy more flexible.  In general, we are allowing all reservations, include prepaid reservations with more restrictive cancellation policies, that were booked prior to April 1st and are arriving before May 31st, to cancel or change with no penalty, up to 24 hours prior to arrival.  This cutoff date may be extended if federal, state, or local agencies implement further travel bans.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone at +1-213-388-8138 or by email at info@hotelnormandiela.com.

We look forward to having you stay with us when your travels bring you to Los Angeles.
